Learn to coach a session where a wheelchair user, a veteran working around a knee replacement, and a Spartan racer all work the same rotation, at the same hour, scaled in place. This is the standard we run on Warrior Field, taught in full.
100 questions, 120 minutes, 80% to pass, drawn at random from a larger bank. 2 attempts, then a 14-day wait — long enough to go back to the material rather than guess again.
Required. A written score alone does not certify anyone to put load on an athlete with a spinal cord injury. Three ways to satisfy it, so distance never stops a good coach:
Issued by Big Tire Bootcamp and signed by Head Coach Alim Shabazz, on the standard run daily at the AMVETS Hawaii Human Performance Center on Warrior Field.
Scope of practice is module 01 and clearance is module 07 — both land before any module that puts load on an athlete. The order is a safety decision, not a syllabus convention.
A bridge, not a second CPT. Enough anatomy, physiology, assessment and program design to get a new coach functional and safe on a field — condensed on purpose, because your accredited CPT already covers this ground in depth.
Where a coach's authority begins and ends. First on purpose: every dangerous thing a trainer does downstream starts with treating a clinical question as a coaching one.

The working subset: joints and planes, the kinetic chain, energy systems, and the physiological differences that matter most once the nervous system is injured.

Intake, health history, and a movement screen that works on a field with no equipment — including how to screen an athlete who cannot perform the standard version of any of it.

Building a block and delivering it: the acute variables, progressive overload when load is not the lever, and the cueing and adherence work that decides who is still training in month six.

The specialization. Conditions and their training implications, clearance and contraindications, and the scaling method that lets a wheelchair user and a Spartan racer work the same rotation.
The disability models a coach is choosing between whether or not they know it, the language that follows from each, and the access obligations that apply to a program open to the public.

The conditions a coach on a veteran field will actually meet, and what each one changes about programming, monitoring, and risk. Training implications only — this module diagnoses nothing.

The gate. Who trains today, who trains with modification, who does not train until a physician says so — and the emergencies a coach must recognize inside seconds.

The core skill of the credential. How a squat becomes a seated press, a run becomes a push, a carry gets a different grip — and how to make the substitute deliver the same training effect rather than a token gesture.

Equipment, straps, grips, transfers, and field setup — including how to run this on grass with almost nothing, which is how most posts will start.

Integration rather than a separate class — the differentiator of this program. One rotation, one hour, every ability, without slowing anyone down or singling anyone out.

How we actually run it — the session model, coaching veterans, emergency response, and standing a program up so it survives its second year.
The session we actually run, start to finish, and the reasoning under each block — so a coach can rebuild it on their own ground rather than copy it blindly.

Any coach active in our system trains and certifies at no cost.
Post and department coaches carrying the program under Resolution 27-10 certify at no cost.
Every enrollment is approved by hand before access opens, paid or not.
Current CPR/AED certification, and approval to enroll.
Valid 3 years. Renewal is a retest plus 100 documented hours coaching adaptive athletes.
Recommended next. Coaches are encouraged to add a nationally accredited personal training certification about a year after earning this one. It broadens where you can work and what you can charge, and it builds on ground this course has already covered.
