For VA physicians, nurses, and recreation therapists — and the veterans you serve. How to plug into Hawai'i's only adaptive fitness program at the AMVETS Hawai'i Human Performance Center, minutes from the Kapolei VA clinic.
Pick your seat — the pathway is tailored to how you work.
"There's a free, veteran-led outdoor fitness program at AMVETS in Ewa Beach — every exercise adapts to you." Hand them this page or the phone number below.
With the veteran's consent, call us at (808) 808-6337 — 24/7 — or have them call from your office. First names and a phone number are all we need. Please don't send medical records or PHI by email.
A coach welcomes them, runs a movement assessment at their first session, and scales everything to their ability. No paperwork required from you.
That's genuinely all it takes. No forms, no fax, no consult template — the field is the intake.
The partnership belongs to the program, not a person — these channels work no matter who's in the seat, on either side.

Behind the basketball courts on Warrior Field — AMVETS, West Oahu Veterans Center
Sessions: Tue/Wed/Thu 5:30 PM · Sat 6:00 AM — clinical teams may observe any session.
The AMVETS Hawai'i Human Performance Center — veteran-led, outdoor, coach-led group training on Warrior Field since our first tire flip.
Adaptive athletes train in the main session with individualized scaling — integration is the medicine.
All 7 planes of motion, Tanita body-composition scans, and DEKA benchmarks — progress you can see at follow-up.
Coach-led groups, 5.0★ Google rating, 32,000+ lives impacted — structure and belonging, twice a week minimum.
We coordinate with VA rec therapy, aquatic therapy, and partners like AccesSurf — the land-side strength between your clinical episodes.
We're a community complement to VA Recreation Therapy — these official VA resources pair naturally with training at BTB.
Nothing — ever. Veterans and active duty train free with ID as a permanent policy of the AMVETS Hawai'i Human Performance Center. Family members can be added for $59/mo, and every new civilian participant gets a free 7-day pass.
No. We're a community program — a veteran can walk on the field today. For clinician referrals, a warm handoff by phone with the veteran's consent is ideal. Please don't send medical records or PHI in writing; the veteran can tell us what we need to know.
Wheelchair users, amputees, limb difference, TBI, PTSD, stroke recovery, neurodivergent athletes, chronic pain, severe deconditioning, and older adults. Every station in every session scales — and if a coach hasn't seen it yet, we'll learn together. If something is outside our scope, we'll say so and help find the right resource.
No — we're the community complement. VA recreation therapists provide clinical treatment; we provide the ongoing, no-cost community training environment that keeps functional gains alive between and after clinical care.
We train outdoors on level grass at the West Oahu Veterans Center (AMVETS) with parking adjacent to the field. Wheelchair athletes train in every session. If you have a specific access question, call (808) 808-6337 and we'll walk the site with you.
Every session is led by certified coaches (NASM, adaptive fitness, Spartan DEKA), every participant completes our standard waiver at their first session, and we carry the insurance appropriate to our programs. Clinical teams are welcome to observe any session.
Yes. This page exists exactly so the partnership never depends on one person. The referral pathway is the program's, not an individual's: (808) 808-6337 and info@bigtirebootcamp.com reach us 24/7, and any VA staff member can refer or visit at any time.
That's the whole challenge. One warm handoff, one session, and let the field make the argument. If it's not the right fit, we'll help find what is — that's a promise from one veteran-serving organization to another.
